Chuckey-Doak FFA Earns Best in Show at Appalachian Fair

This year, on August 18th, the Chuckey-Doak FFA* Chapter entered the Appalachian Fair with fresh ideas and a renewed spirit. Chuckey-Doak FFA won numerous 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons, including the prestigious Best of Show ribbons. After many years without a chapter display, our chapter officer team worked tirelessly to create an outstanding exhibit that earned them first place for their efforts. The display beautifully connected with the theme “Barnyard Dreams, Mountain Scenes,” showcasing all the memorable moments from our chapter, including pictures and awards.

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunities provided by the FFA and honored to display our achievements. Sapana Das created an Ag Issue Poster Board that won first place and Best of Show. Kenna Combs showcased her bright yellow corn, which also earned Best of Show and first place. Photographs taken by Boone Ricker and Kenna Combs placed 2nd in the agriculture photography category, highlighting the intense competition. Chelsea Hensley entered a single
flower arrangement and won first place in her class. We also had many other placements in gardening, ornamental horticulture, photography, and shop work.
Some of our students are heading to the Appalachian Fair on Friday, August 23, 2024, to compete in the prepared public speaking contest — Freshman Boone Ricker, Sophomore Xiomara Vides, and Junior Ethan Heimiller. We are excited to hear their speeches and see their hard work and dedication pay off.
Our FFA members played a huge role in our success this year. We are grateful for everyone’s hard work and couldn’t be more excited for next year. We had an incredible year at the Appalachian Fair, and we look forward to many more successful years to come.

Special thanks to Mr. Clemmer and Mr. Murray for everything they do to lead our FFA. The CDHS Charger would also like to congratulate Mr. Murray and Mr. Clemmer on their 2nd place win for the CTE Directors Award. We love our FFA and our FFA teachers!
