The Chuckey-Doak FFA Chapter competed in the Dairy Evaluation contest on August 23, 2024. This career Development Event (CDE) focuses on dairy cattle selection and herd management. The team won 1st place in the Eastern Region at the Appalachian Fair. This event helps students develop skills in observation, analysis, communication, and team collaboration.

Our team, consisting of four students, excelled in evaluating the cattle’s physical characteristics, explaining various classes, and analyzing herd records. They gained a deeper understanding of dairy cattle management, including animal welfare, biosecurity, business management, current issues, environmental management, and safety practices.

Individually, our students performed exceptionally well. Chelsea Hensley placed 2nd in the region, Gracie Monk placed 4th, Kenna Combs placed 5th, and Avery Armstrong placed 10th. Their hard work and dedication were evident, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements. We look forward to another successful year ahead!

Special thanks to our FFA Guest Reporter Sapana Das and our FFA Advisors Mr. Murray and Mr. Clemmer for the photographs.
