Although the complications of the flood kept delaying school events, Chuckey-Doak High School’s annual homecoming was finally rescheduled for Tuesday, October 29th, 2024. Students, faculty, alumni, and participants were immersed in a warm and cheerful atmosphere. Everyone cheered for their favorite candidates for Homecoming Queen and the Homecoming princesses.
Last year’s Homecoming Queen Amelia Birchfield crowned the princesses and the queen of 2024. In the end, the person crowned homecoming queen was Molly Barricks, who was escorted by Noah Starette. The senior crowned homecoming princess was Layla Fox. For the junior homecoming princess, Chloe Crawford won. As for the sophomore homecoming princess, the crown went to Lucy Hall. And last, but not least, Emily Swecker was crowned the freshman homecoming princess.

To go along with the homecoming ceremony, Chuckey-Doak had a powder-puff football game between the different grades. In an intense battle, the Senior and Sophomores proved to be the superior team.
Chuckey-Doak then had a knighting ceremony for the rising junior class officers. Seniors lined up on the concession stands side of the football field while every other grade lined up on the scoreboard side. Once the music starts everyone starts walking and lines up on a specific yard line. Then junior and senior class officers start walking towards each other one-by-one getting their candles lit as Dr. Donahue announced the eight different virtues: chivalry, integrity, valor, armor, truth, virtue, loyalty, and honor.
And for the final part of the night, students, parents, and teachers all gathered together around the bonfire to celebrate the homecoming festivities and end the day on a positive, and warm note.
We interviewed several students and teachers about their Homecoming experience this year.
See you for next year’s Homecoming! It’s our favorite “week” of the year!
