Bowling is one of America’s most beloved sports. Whether you’re an amateur or a professional, bowling is fun for anyone who wants to play. In this article we’re going to be talking about the best of the bowlers. From the likes of Chuckey-Doak and South-Greene, we have bowlers who make it to district, regionals, and even state. The Rebel Knights are coached by Head Coach Jamie Weems from South Greene High School and Assistant Coach Freddy White from South Greene High School, who is also a parent of a Chuckey-Doak High School student.
Our CD-SG Rebel Knights’ team has produced some of the best players in our area, such as Gavin Murray. Gavin is a Junior homeschooled bowler who is part of the joint team. He currently has some of the best records in Greene County, helping secure his team the top seed for the district tournament. For our other bowlers at Chuckey-Doak, we have Senior Ava Pincombe and Juniors Sara Shirey-Wirt and Eric White, who are some of the most proficient players in the county.
Today, we interviewed Chuckey-Doak bowlers to get an insight of what it’s like to be on the bowling team as well as what it means to them.
Next in line for the interview, we have Gavin Murray. With both a mix of excellence and the sportsmanship of an athlete, he answered some questions about his high school career as well as how the team will do in the playoff tournaments.
Finally, we heard some insight from head coach of the boys bowling team (who is also the assistant coach for the whole team), Freddie White. He shared his thoughts about the performance of his boys team and girls team in a short, but important interview.
After the regular season, the final Standings for the Rebel-Knight Girls Bowling team is 3-5. The Rebel-Knight Boys have a flawless record of 8-0. For the district tournament which begins next week, the girls will play Cherokee on lanes 7-10 at 4:00 pm on Monday; the girls’ second match will be Wednesday at 12:00 noon. The boys received a bye for the first round because they are the top seed. They will play their first match during the second round of the district tournament against the Greeneville/Cherokee winner on lanes 7-10 at 2:30 pm on Wednesday. All games will be at East End Lanes in Rogersville.
To anyone in Greene County, or even in the East Tennessee area, you can support our Rebel-Knights’ bowling team by playing a couple of games at their home bowling alley Olympia Lanes, right here in Greeneville. We also want to wish our Rebel Knights good luck as they play in districts next week. Go Rebel Knights!
