On September 19th, 2025, Chuckey-Doak High School hosted its annual Special Olympics basketball games. Chuckey-Doak, South Greene, West Greene, and Greeneville High School all participated in these games. Many students, faculty, parents, and volunteers came to watch and cheer on the players.

The gym was filled with high energy as each athlete from every school showed off their skills on the court. Every basket made was celebrated loudly with smiles appearing all across the gym. As each game went on, every player worked hard, encouraged one another, and demonstrated the true meaning of teamwork and sportsmanship.

For many of the players, this event was more than just a game – it was a chance for them to be celebrated for their abilities and dedication. Teachers and volunteers played a huge role for the players. They coached, supported, encouraged, and ensured the games ran smoothly.

The Special Olympics helps bring the schools and communities together in a very unique way. It creates opportunities for friendship, builds confidence, and reminds everyone watching that success is not only about winning, but also about participation, effort, and the joy that comes with it.

By the end of the day, the players left the court, proud of their accomplishments, and the audience left inspired by their endeavor. Chuckey-Doak’s Special Olympics basketball games once again proved to be an unforgettable experience that highlighted the importance of inclusion, respect, and school spirit. It also brung lasting memories for everyone involved.
