As the new bowling season rolls in, excitement is building among players and fans. The team is eager to get back on the lanes, ready to strike up another competitive and memorable season. After weeks of preparation, practices, and team bonding, the bowlers are confident that their hard work will pay off in a big way this season. The bowling team is a cooperative effort between South Greene High School and Chuckey-Doak High School.
The team consists of both boys and girls. The boys’ team is: Holden Williamson, Eric White, Hayden Williamson, Evan Stills, Peyton Fitzpatrick, Wyatt Wilds, and Connor Van Dusen. The girls’ team is: Sara Shirey-Wirt, Hailey Williamson, Prudence Nieder, Savannah Moody, and Lexi Boyd. The team is coached by Head Coach Freddy White and Assistant Coach Ashley Williamson.
The team has been focusing on improving both skill and consistency, key components in achieving success. Practices have centered around technique, communication, and maintaining composure under pressure- all crucial elements when matches come down to the final frame. Many returning players are stepping into leadership roles, guiding the younger members and setting the tone for the team’s energy and focus.
Coaches and players all share one goal: progress. Whether it’s raising averages, building teamwork, or bringing home wins, every member is committed to showing improvement from last season. The dedication shown during the preseason has created a strong sense of unity, and that chemistry could make all the difference during their matches.
Fans can expect thrilling matches filled with energy, focus, and determination. The bowlers know that the scoreboard does not just measure every pin count and that success is found in the effort, attitude, and spirit they bring to each game.
With a couple of games under their belts, the team has been trying their hardest and competing to the best ability. The boys’ team has been on a roll, winning multiple matches against Dobyns Bennet High School, Greenville High School, Sevier County High School, Pigeon Forge High School, and Seymour High School. The girls’ team has not been as good as the boys, but they have been trying their hardest and getting better.
With more matches on their schedule and plenty of time for both teams to continue improving, the team is ready to make this the best season yet. As they have set their sights on consistent strikes and high scores, one thing is certain- the lanes are ready, and there are strikes ahead for this determined group of bowlers. Good luck to the team for the rest of their season.
