While winter brings colder temperatures and shorter days, the cheerleading team continues to bring energy and excitement to every game. Winter cheerleaders play an important role in supporting the basketball teams by leading cheers, performing routines, and keeping school spirit strong in the stands. Their enthusiasm helps motivate players and keeps fans engaged throughout the season.
The team consists of Seniors: Rylie Lamb, Samantha Fletcher, Jordyn Price, and Shianne Painter. Juniors: Xayda Vereecke, Kolby Shannon, Kenslee Miller, Michelle Brooks, Elizabeth Shelton, Mandy Cooper, Reagan Brown. Sophomores: Hayden Kenney, Paysli Patrick, Emily Swecker, Gracyn Uhls, Joslyn Waycaster, and Jackie Tinkham. Freshman: Tatum McAmis, Skyli Randall, Lilly Scott, Bailynn Price, Bailey Croy.
Practices during the winter season require dedication and teamwork. Cheerleaders spend hours after school learning new chants, perfecting stunts, and refining motions to ensure clean and confident performances. Conditioning and repetition help the team stay strong and prepared, even during busy weeks filled with games and academic responsibilities. Despite the demanding schedule, the team remains focused and committed to improving every day.
Game nights are where the team’s hard work truly shines. From pre-game warm-ups to the final buzzer, cheerleaders remain loud, focused, and supportive. They lead the student section, encourage crowd participation, and help maintain high energy throughout the game. Their presence helps turn the gym into a place filled with excitement and school pride.
Winter cheerleading also builds leadership and confidence among team members. Cheerleaders learn how to communicate clearly, support one another, and step into leadership roles when needed. Working closely as a team teaches responsibility and trust, skills that extend beyond the cheer mat and into everyday life.
Beyond performances, cheerleaders represent their school with pride and sportsmanship. They support not only their own teams but also the entire school community by setting a positive example. Through hard work, dedication, and a strong sense of unity, the cheerleading team continues to make a lasting impact throughout the winter sports season as they take their next steps forward.
