Here at CDHS, we offer several options for Fine Arts, including band, chorus, theatre, and art. These aren’t just classes; they’re communities where friendships begin, creativity thrives, and students discover their passions. Whether you are a seasoned performer or just curious about trying something new, there is a place for you in the fine arts.
Our band program is a powerhouse of musical talent. Students put in hard work throughout the year, starting in the summer, when they practice for two weeks. The band pushes hard to meet music deadlines. They play at every home football game and all the in-county away games. They participate in college-level band camps. Mr.Landon Brady conducts the band.
In the Chorus, students learn fundamental music concepts, including sight reading, rhyme, and vocal technique. They develop their individual voices while also mastering the delicate balance of blending with others. The Chorus classroom is a space where discipline meets creativity, as singers work collaboratively to interpret diverse musical pieces. The chorus sings the National Anthem for some basketball games and competes at competitions. The Chorus recently competed at a competition called JB Lile, where they got excellence. In the chorus world, that is a really good score. The Chorus is directed by Mrs.Cari Allen.

Art club and art class both give students a chance to explore their creativity and express themselves through different forms of artwork. In art class, students learn about artists, different techniques, and styles of art. On the other hand, the art club allows students to take their artistry even further by working on personal projects, collaborating with others, and helping create artworks for the school. Art provides relaxation and a safe, supportive environment for people. They can share ideas with others, improve their skills, and work with like-minded peers. Together, Art Club and art class help students build confidence, develop their artistic abilities, and appreciate the value of creativity. Ms. Paige Smiley is the teacher and the sponsor for both the club and the class.
The school theatre is more than just a stage; it is a place where creativity flourishes, and stories come to life. Students learn more than acting and technical skills. They learn invaluable lessons in teamwork, discipline, and self-expression. The theatre fosters a unique community, uniting diverse talents-actors, designers, musicians, and crew- all working towards a shared artistic vision. The theatre did a Christmas play this past year called Yes, Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus. The theatre is also taught by Mrs.Cari Allen.
