Black Knights Golf Team Rallies towards Districts

The Chuckey-Doak Black Knight Golf team includes ten players, two being seniors who are strong competitors on the course:  Avery Armstrong and Layla Fox. The girls’ team has been competing very well this season, while the boys’ team hasn’t been as fortunate. Regardless of the boys season record, they are still eagerly awaiting the rest of their matches. 

This past Monday, September 9, 2024, the golf team played against Happy Valley, Johnson County, and West Greene High School.  Both medalists were from CDHS.  Congratulations to Senior Avery Armstrong for shooting a 40 and Junior Kyleigh Crawford for shooting a 41 at Twin Creeks Golf Course.  Both Black Knights and several others have the possibility of advancing to the state tournament coming up. 

Our yearbook staff set up a meeting with Boys’ Coach and Head Coach, Gene Ward, in order to interview him about golf. In the video, Shianne Painter (Junior) asked about several topics including the types of clubs, how the teams are doing this year, what inspired Coach Ward to play golf, and how long he’s been coaching golf at Chuckey Doak HIgh School.

There are various pictures of the golf team’s matches and the invitational that the girls’ team played in to kick off the season.
