Chuckey-Doak High School had the opportunity to add a new building this school year. Construction was completed, and students were able to move in by the second semester. The new Career and Technical Education (CTE) building offers a wide range of new classes and opportunities for students interested in hands-on, career-focused learning.

In addition to providing more classroom space, the CTE building is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and resources tailored for hands-on learning. Students now have access to advanced equipment that supports a variety of career and technical fields, from engineering to healthcare. The building also features collaborative learning areas, industry-standard labs, and flexible workspaces that encourage creativity and problem-solving. Partnerships with local businesses allow students to gain real-world experience through internships and mentorship programs. One example of this would be the Emergency Medical Rescue Class partnering with Greene County EMS.

Teachers have already noticed a positive impact on student engagement. Many students are eager to participate in the new programs, citing the modern environment and specialized resources as motivating factors. The school administration is hopeful that these opportunities will better prepare students for their future careers or further education.

Some of the new technical classes offered include cosmetology, taught by Jamy Swinney; automotive, led by Mr. Josh Fillers; welding, instructed by Chris Hill; HVAC, guided by Tristan Coakley; EMR class, instructed by Wesley Miller; and nursing, mentored by Kelley Coulston.

Chuckey-Doak High School would like to give a special thanks to Greene County Board of Education members: Rick Tipton, Chairman; Mark Rothe, Vice Chairman; Minnie Banks; Larry Bible; Gary L. Compton II; Stacey Franklin; George Frye; Dr. Chris Malone, Director of Schools; and David McLain, Director of Schools (2015-2025); Greene County Commission members: Lisa Anderson, Josh Arrowood, Jeffrey Bible, Lloyd “Hoot” Bowers, Paul Burkey, Pamela Carpenter, Larkin Clemmer, Jason Cobble, Kathy Crawford, Bill Dabbs, Nick Gunter, Jan Kiker, Teddy Lawing, Chase Murray, Lyle Parton, Brad Peters, Robin Quillen, Gary Shelton, Tim Smithson, John Waddle, Charles “Tim” White, Greene County Mayor Kevin Morrison; and finally, A.
