Crowning The Homecoming Queen

September 3rd marked the end of our Homecoming week for the Black Knights with a home football game against the West Greene Buffaloes. Before the game was the long-awaited Homecoming Ceremony and crowning. Homecoming Princesses from each grade were announced: Kirra Ward (9th), Skyli Randall (10th), Emily Swecker (11th), and Lucy Hall (12th). The 2026 Homecoming Queen is Kayla Wilcox, who was crowned by last year’s Homecoming Queen, Reaghan Berryhill.  

Four freshmen were chosen to represent their class during coronation. First, Raylea Myers, daughter of Chelsea and Wes Myers, represented the class of 2030. She plays basketball and volleyball, and she plans to graduate and attend law school. Sophomore Denver Huff, son of Tara and Steven Huff, escorted Raylea. Denver plays golf, participates in FFA, and wants to attend TCAT for welding. Following Raylea was Dani Shelton, Daughter of Luke and Jessi Shelton. Dani plays basketball, softball, and volleyball. Freshman Cooper Broyles, son of Steven and Carrie Broyles, escorted Dani. Cooper plays basketball and plans to complete college and be successful. Third, Brooklyn Tolley, Daughter of Belinda and Gary Tolley. Brooklyn participates in cheerleading, Crossroads Youth Group, BK Media, and BK Vitals. Brooklyn was escorted by Austin Jones, son of Amanda Jones. Austin Jones plays golf and is a member of ROTC. Austin plans to excel in academics and always learn new things. Finally, Kirra Ward, Daughter of Jarrod Ward, Whitney Wells, and Candance Ward. Kirra is a cheerleader at CDHS and a member of BK Vitals and plans to become a nurse. Mikey Karriker, son of Mike and Pam Karriker, escorted Kirra. Mikey plays basketball and football and plans to play football professionally.

Four sophomores represented the class of 2029. First, Addison Gaddis, daughter of Megan and Dakota Keith. Addison participates in Knight Club, FCCLA, Career Connect, and Soccer. Addison plans to go to college and become an entrepreneur. Freshman Skylar Nelson, Son of Valisha Sharp, escorted Addison. Skylar plays football and plans to become a physical therapist. Second is Khloe Khight, daughter of Brett and Chasity Khight. Khloe plays basketball, tennis, and soccer at CDHS and participates in Knight Club, BK Media, and BK Vitals. Khloe plans to attend Milligan University, play soccer, and become an occupational therapist. Junior Marcus Britt, son of Kacie and Brian Britt, escorted Khloe. Marcus plays football, wrestles, and runs track, participates in First Priority, and plans to attend college for mechanical engineering and play football. Third, Skyli Randall, daughter of Joey and Cheray Randall. Skyli is a cheerleader and in the Knight Club and plans to become a dental hygienist. Sophomore Braxton Lowe, son of Tony and Joy Lowe, escorted Skyli. Braxton participates in student government, hunting, fishing, football, and baseball. Braxton plans to attend the University of Tennessee and major in engineering. Third, Paylin Shelton, daughter of Heather and Matt Shelton. Paylin plays softball and basketball and plans to attend the College of Charleston and pursue a career in sports medicine. Freshman Avery Parkey, son of Ashley Love and the late Duane Parkey, escorted Paylin. Avery plays basketball and football and plans to attend the University of Tennessee and pursue a career in physical therapy. 

Four Juniors were selected to represent the class of 2028—first, Paysli Patrick, daughter of Ashley Ricker and Jamey Patrick. Paysli does cheerleading and youth council. Paysli plans to attend college and become a dental hygienist. Sophomore Braylon Fox, son of Kent Fox and April Jones. Braylon does soccer, football, Knight Club, and student council. He plans to attend Tennessee Tech and become a civil engineer. Second is Kimberly Puente, daughter of Jessica and Tony Puente. Kimberly plays volleyball, basketball, and tennis, and she plans to attend the University of Tennessee. Sophomore Logan Malone, son of Summer and William Malone, escorted Kimberly. He plays basketball and tennis and plans to attend Tennessee Tech and study engineering. Third, Molly Joy Ross, daughter of Rebecca and Bryan Ross. Molly participates in band, art, theatre, and First Priority, and she plans to attend Carson-Newman and one day become a band director. She also wants to serve as a missionary in Brazil. Finally, Emily Swecker, daughter of Amy and Jeff Swecker. Emily is a CDHS cheerleader, a student government member, BK Media member, and First Priority member. Emily plans to attend college. Junior Connor Hall, son of Chris and Karrie Hall, escorted Emily. Connor plays football, runs track, and participates in FFA and student government, and he plans to attend college.

Four Seniors were chosen to represent the class of 2027. First, Lucy Hall, daughter of Shelia and Danny Hall. Lucy does wrestling, volleyball, cross country, and pageants. Lucy plans to attend King University and study philosophy. Junior Caden Stills, son of Brandi Crawford and Chris Stills, escorted Lucy. Cayden does wrestling and plans to attend the University of Tennessee and study engineering. Second, Chloe Kirkpatrick, daughter of Kelly and Adam Gaddis and the late Ben Kirkpatrick. Chloe plays volleyball, basketball, FFA, FCA, and First Priority, and she plans to attend college while playing volleyball and become an ultrasound technician. Senior Ryland Grindstaff, son of April and Chad Grindstaff, escorted Chloe. Ryland plays soccer, basketball, FFA, FCA, BK Media, and First Priority. Ryland plans to play basketball in college and get a degree in business. Third is Cihanna Nelson, daughter of Valisha and Jessi Sharpe and Phillip and Danielle Nelson. Cihanna does wrestling, track, and painting. Cihanna plans to earn her cosmetology license and own her own salon. Junior Jayden Britt, son of Kacie and Brian Britt. Jayden plays football and spends time with those he loves. Jayden also plans to get a college scholarship and become an automotive mechanic. Next is Kolby Shannon, daughter of Miranda and Derick Shannon. Kolby is a CDHS varsity cheerleader and BK Media Editor-in-Chief. She is also Senior Class Historian. Kolby plans to attend college and pursue a degree in secondary education in English. Junior: Kiptyn Ball, son of Heath and Crystal Ball, escorted her. Kiptyn plays football and baseball; he participates in BK Media and Youth Council. Kiptyn plans to attend college and become a physical therapist. The final candidate is Xiomara Vides, daughter of Carlos and Jennifer Vides. Xiomara participates in BK Media and Bleacher Creatures. Xiomara is the FFA East Tennessee region Vice President. Xiomara plans to attend East Tennessee State University and become a Pediatric Doctor. Xiomara was escorted by her father.

Crowning the princesses and queen was Reaghan Berryhill. She is the daughter of Shasta Berryhill. She is interested in music, theater, and debate. She plans to become a paralegal through a degree at Walter State and then attend Lincoln Memorial University to complete her law degree. She was escorted by Evan Price, and he plans to become a professional audio producer.  She crowned Kirra, Skyli, Emily, Lucy, and Kayla to conclude the 2026 Homecoming Ceremony at Chuckey-Doak High School. and staff have come together to celebrate their school.
